INTERVIEW FROM ROCK SOUND MAGAZINE 01.09 The Amia Venera Landscape are the classic band that will get noticed quickly, professional and attentive to everything that revolves around its world . few months after the release of the video for "Glances" based on the ep, and after the date of support Dillinger Escape Plan, Velvet July 8th, we are facing one of the most exciting and fascinating bands of the era "post-metalcore". In a time saturated and too little of originality, our show is, after three years, the undisputed pioneers of the movement post hardcore / rock / noise (or as you prefer to call it) in Italy.
IC: Your latest EP is one of the most interesting I've heard in 2009. Tell us how they were born the songs and who you have approached for recording / mixing / mastering.

AVL (Alessandro): First, thank you, we are delighted that you enjoyed the disc. The songs are born in days, weeks and years locked in a rehearsal room full dark and cold. They were born with difficulty, from a lot of determination, and represent a significant gradient of our sound and what we express with our music, which however has never wanted to limit (and will not be limited especially in the future) to only this. The pieces were recorded at the Ravenna Studio73 with producer Riccardo Pasini. Other arrangements were also completed in our mini studio staff and everything was finally mixed by our guitarist, Henry. The master was made to the Creative Studio by Stefano Cappelli, a great professional with whom we were now in tune.


IC: You are part of the agency best in Italy, the Hellfire Booking Promotions. As you are with Matt and his associates?

AVL: With Matt we are very good. Our relationship with him is characterized by professionalism, transparency and mutual respect. CI: How was your date with Dillinger at the Velvet on 8 July?

IC: How did you get in touch with Derek Hess (Strhess Clothing) and how you came to an agreement to obtain the sponsorship?

Un gruppo tanto peculiare e prezioso, capace di ridurre la propria personalità in tre tracce che esplodono all'ascolto, lasciando impressionati per la maturità compositiva e il carattere incisivo. 'My Hands Will Burn' è vorace, violenta e lacerante, ha sulle spalle Cult Of Luna, Converge e Burnt By The Sun ma afferra quelle ritmiche vibranti e variate che ne determinano la singolarità, accompagnate dal già noto ma maestoso alternare tra clean e scream vocal. Gli Amia Venera Landscape dimostrano di aver appreso dai maestri il più possibile e di saper rileggere in una chiave propria quei ritmi più melodici che sfociano nell'adrenalina e nei cambi di ritmo e di tempo, come risulta chiaro in 'Nicholas'. Si accostano anche a Neurosis e Isis per costrutti melodici e contorsioni virtruosistiche mai eccessive, specialmente apprezzabili nel finale di 'Glances'. Quei suoni cos' decisi accompagnati da una consapevolezza malinconica e un po' oscura, suggellata dagli artwork ricercati ed impeccabili sottolineano quanto una band così giovane ma già così pronta abbia ben in mente la direzione da intraprendere. Risulta chiaro che un sestetto del genere di strada ne percorrerà tanta per capacità artistiche, compositive e tenacia. In definitiva una realtà italiana tanto particolare da risultare già da un mini ep autoprodotto qualcosa da tenere d'occhio. Peccato che non sempre talento e fortuna vadano pari passo, ma lo auguriamo loro molto volentieri.

"Glances" is a quick reading of what has already been put on display, with a greater emphasis on melody, which is expressed especially nella parte finale della canzone.
Gusto per i contrasti sonori, ottimo affiatamento tra i sei componenti del gruppo, amalgama strumentale d’impatto, ma che non soffoca i vari timbri in un calderone indistinto (e con tre chitarre all’attivo non è un’impresa così scontata), buon bilanciamento tra parti ispide e violente e digressioni dilatate e armoniche. Un esordio che colpisce per maturità e padronanza dei mezzi. Urge al più presto un serio contratto discografico.

Grandioso esordio degli Aima Venera Landscape: in poco più di un quarto d'ora i sei ragazzi veneti si rivelano una sorprendente realtà del post hardcore, dimostrando un'insospettabile maturità stilistica che li colloca decisamente oltre il ruolo di semplici promesse. Il loro mini album è un breve ma significativo esempio di come è possibile rielabolare risapute strutture sonore esprimendo soluzioni sorprendentemente originali. Se la base di partenza rimane il classico suono alla Neurosis (nome di riferimento del genere), gli sviluppi compositivi si orientano verso inediti percorsi che spaziano dal death metal più evoluto a inconsuete escursioni armoniche. The combination of atmospheric and melodic aspects of post-rock with heavier music styles like metal and sludge is something a long time ago to come out with such acts as Cult of Luna, ISIS and Neurosis. Now a combination of post-hardcore rock and therefore not as far-fetched and this can be regarded as a natural evolution. One of the most promising young acts from this and combining angle, the Italian sextet Amia Venera Landscape.

Amia Venera Landscape is the epitome of the well executed combination of post-rock and hardcore. The performance carries with it great atmosphere of quiet breaks to melodic atmospheres that can change a hopeful feeling to the other extreme, the desolate and lost.
